Perry Hill Farm’s lesson program is tailored to meet the
needs of each individual student by taking into consideration their age, level
of maturity and experience. We emphasize not only the safety of the rider, but
also of the horse so that horse and rider may work together in harmony. Beginner
students start with the most basic of lessons like how to ask their horse to
stop, while more advanced Equestrians work on fine-tuning their technique so
that horse and rider appear as one fluid entity. More advanced students are required
to help care for their horses and equipment before and after their lessons so
that they may learn good horsemanship and how to care for and respect the
animals we love! PHF specializes in lessons for children age 4 and up.
Horseback riding is an extremely rewarding sport that offers many life lessons such as the benefits of hard work and dedication, good sportsmanship, and teamwork as well as the importance of exercise! Whether you are interested in competing or just learning to enjoy a “walk through the park,” Perry Hill Farm would love to share our knowledge with you! Please call to schedule a tour and to meet our horses and instructors.
LESSON FEES
½ Hour
Lesson - $40 (for more advanced students to focus solely on their riding)
1 Hour
Lesson - $60 (strongly recommended for beginners and includes 30 min of riding time
and 30 min of instruction on the ground)
Pony Ride – $15 (please call for appointment or watch for our “Pony Rides” sign)
Students are required to commit to at least one lesson a week and are strongly encouraged to commit to two or more. Because horseback riding is an active sport involving muscle memory, a student’s progression is directly correlated to how often he or she practices! Once you commit to a series of lessons, your lesson slot is reserved for you every week. Once students reach a certain riding level, PHF encourages them to participate in our Academy Program- ask your instructor for more details!

EQUIPMENT
Approved riding helmets are required for all students and
are provided by PHF. Proper attire is mandatory and consists of long pants (Kentucky Jodphurs) to
prevent chafing and a hard-soled boot or shoe with preferably a ½ - 1 inch
heel. PHF staff will be happy to suggest a location to get the required
apparel. PHF has helmets for students to borrow, however, we suggest buying your own as well.
CANCELLATION
24 Hours notice is required for ALL lesson cancellations. If
notice is not received, you will be charged the full fee of your missed lesson.
PHF understands that emergencies do arise, but asks that you call ASAP in such
a case. If your child is sick, please call ASAP and AT LEAST 1 hour prior to
your lesson!

Please note that Perry Hill Farm does not offer trail rides to the public
