Perry Hill Farm is the realization of a dream many years in the making. Owners Harriet and her daughter Elissa Finks have been involved with horses for over 20 years and finally have a permanent home in New Hampshire where they can share some of that knowledge and joy with others. Elissa started riding at the tender age of 4 years old at a local riding stable in Massachusetts. It was apparent even in the very first week of lessons that she had a true love for the animals and the sport. She excelled in her lessons and by age 7, was given the first of many horses to come. Over the next 20 years Elissa was instructed by many world class trainers in New England as well as Kentucky and accumulated countless awards to her name. The culmination of her junior exhibitor career was in 2001 when she was virtually undefeated in her division and finished the year with two world championship titles to her name as well as a People’s Choice and a Judges Choice award.

    It was soon after that Elissa started teaching others to care for and ride her beloved horses. Uptown Ponies was born and continues to this day touching countless children’s lives with pony rides for all occasions including field trips and birthday parties! Another branch of the new business was soon formed as well. Boston Show Horses dealt with the training aspect of both children and horses through lessons, pony rides, and even summer and special vacation camps. Throughout the last few years Elissa’s students have accomplished numerous goals and have accumulated many regional awards.

    The final piece of the growing puzzle was when Harriet purchased the famous Cricket Hill Farm in Bedford, NH in 2007. Renovations and updates were swiftly begun and will continue into the future. The new Perry Hill Farm is now home to 24 horses and ponies– some of which were rescued from neglectful situations so that they could be rehabilitated and continue to teach children to respect and love them. Additionally, the farm mascot, Miss Colby the 850 lbs. Pig, also calls the farm home. She inspects the property daily and usually sits in on lessons to make sure that everything is up to snuff.
